PLAMA was the first company in this business in Germany and has already supplied more than 10,000 used plastics machines worldwide over the last 31 years. Almost 99 % of the machines delivered were reconditioned prior to shipment, according to the customers´ requirements.

PLAMA was formed on 02.01.1976 by engineers and technicians. Other dealers in Germany sold machines only ´as is´ coming from production sites, whereas the founders of PLAMA - among others Hansmartin Thom, graduated engineer, who studied mechanical engineering from the bottom up - decided to form a company with the aim to market plastic machinery internationally backed with his vast experience. All machines would be supplied subject to a thorough inspection, reconditioning, and test in the PLAMA factory prior to shipment. The reason was that almost all machines that PLAMA bought, in spite of inspection and test run at the production site showed during testing in our factories small and major faults. We learned by experience that neither good technicians nor our customers were in a position to find out all about the conditions of a machine at the production site. Therefor in 1975 we decided, not to supply machines directly from production to our customers, but to take them into our stock at first, put them to the acid test by our experienced technicians and repair what is necessary. As an exception to the rule and only if the customer prefers it, we supply machines that are not reconditioned by us. Of course, such machines are much cheaper.

Our daily work consists mostly in modifying, extending, modernizing machines and lines according to the customers´requirements and specifications. This is especially the case for lines for thermoforming, sheet, packing film, pipe, profile, compound, granulating and other lines. These lines are composed from second-hand reconditioned machines, subsidiary parts and are built to customer requirement. The customer can test such lines in production in our factories prior to shipment, and certification of the final test run is possible. We also offer as a service that technicians of our customers can come to PLAMA before delivery and work on their lines, thus enabling them to learn all about the construction, operation and production of their lines. It is also possible to send technicians for the start-up at the customers´ factories. We can also provide for packing, transport, and other formalities. Upon request we can also supply new moulds and accessories.
